My mother told me I won today
I said the last word
All I know is how to tell the truth
I bore my heart like I have always done
Hoping he would see my humanity and love me If I won why does it fee like I still lossed?
I did not berate him
I did not dominate him
If I won what was my weapon?
My heart?
Fighting with the blade of compassion?
The fiery edge of empathy?
The hammer of humanity?
What choice weapon did I have?
The truth is patriarchy won
My dad took his own weapons
Birthrighted by patriarchy
Fire and Fuel
And lit the Earth beneath his feet
Life long death by slow burn
Fueled by fits of self destruction
How did I win when patriarchy took my father from me? Patriarchy kills the patriarch
Patriarchy give cis men the flog,
the bludgeon
the spear,
the uncontrollable fire,
the fuel
They pulverize themselves while lighting everyone and everything a flame Patriarchy kills the patriarch
Don’t-deny these battle wounds came from him
Don’t-deny his flagrant cut of 1,000 knives
Don’t-deny his cannon ball going through my abdomen
My old battle scars are starting to ooze with complicated grief
Sores from patriarchy killing the patriarch
I write this for those who have sown themselves back together
For the people stitching their own skin
Those who battle themselves because their body was a battlefield
I write this from surviving battle to let you know your iron clad heart will endure the war The heavy weight of armored-amor will protect you
You are endowed with the regenerative power of the strength and wisdom You are your own healer
Antidote to the poison
You will endure because patriarchy kills the patriarch
I will be your angel on the battlefield
My sister-brother
My brother-sister
My non-binary kin
Whispering strategies of survival
I will help you doge the blows
Giving you life so you can carry out victory I will be with you until the end
Until there is no need for patriarchy to kill the patriarch I am with you in this ancient struggle
Until we beat the patriarch and end the patriarchy Until we are all free
