All credit to the late, great Gil Scott Heron. This both homage to him and his timely timeless song and protest to the continued oppression he fought against.

This is NOT a treatise on our immoral and illegitimate 45th president, though admittedly his figure is evoked a number of times. The revolution has stood in opposition to his ilk since before his time and will continue to stand long after.

This is a software update. A re-boot. This is a demonstration. This is a rebuke to any notion that America was ever great, to anyone who has ever called this nation "post-racial."

This is a salute to the black folks gunned down by police. The names of which, regrettably, are too long to list here and in the track itself. This is an attempt at the justice they never had a chance for. It will, of course, inevitably, fall short of that aim.

This is a reminder that the righteous fury you felt now has been felt before and must continue to be felt if you wanna make a change. Don't post about it. It wasn't televised, and it damn sure won't be tweeted.
